Sustainability

Guild GC is committed to creating thoughtfully conceived, quality projects that are environmentally sound. We care about our buildings and how they affect people and the environment. Our experience in sustainable green building dates back to the early eighties, when we and other idealistic pioneers experimented with modular construction. Now, it is ingrained in everything we produce.

Green buildings not only benefit the environment, they also outperform their conventional counterparts in a number of ways. In addition to lowering energy use and life cycle costs, they are healthier and more durable than their conventional counterparts. By using 70-90% recycled materials in our projects we not only create buildings that conserve valuable finite resources, but we also reclaim resources previously expended on less environmentally beneficial projects. Our holistic approach to building and design encompasses all the key aspects of a successful, sustainable project: energy savings, water efficiency, CO2 reduction, indoor environmental quality and resource conservation.

At Guild GC all our projects will adhere to the high standards of sustainable building and many will achieve green building certifications.

Green projects provide:

  • Healthy indoor environments
  • Energy efficiency
  • Construction waste landfill diversion & recycling
  • Reduction of greenhouse gas emissions
  • Durability and reduced maintenance
  • Enhanced property value

Today we adhere to the LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) standards set forth by the U.S. Green Building Council in 1998. Because of our experience in the rigorous LEED certification process; we are able to easily supervise the documentation required by the US Green Building Council to achieve certification of commercial and residential buildings. To date, we have achieved LEED Gold certification on four homes and are currently working on a LEED Platinum home.
